What we do

Joyful Music’s Musikgarten classes offer instruction tailored for each age level — from your baby who benefits greatly from being part of a live music environment, right up through school-age children who delight in piano lessons.

The Musikgarten curriculum is a holistic program, in that it develops the whole child — physically, emotionally, socially, cognitively, and of course, musically! We nurture music aptitude by engaging children and their families in singing and movement activities that help attune the ear, refine the voice and develop a rhythmic body through which music can be expressed. Multiple classes are offered each week, including a baby drop-in class (returning soon!).

What is Musikgarten? Musikgarten is an internationally recognized early childhood music program that guides babies to school-aged children through a set series of classes and methodology that has been proven to successfully engage children and create musical aptitude. Musikgarten is the one of the few programs that offers music curricula for newborns to older school-aged children in piano and voice instruction. It is based on a keen understanding of how children learn, in both a general sense and, specifically, how they learn music

Our group classes are designed for children ages 0-5, with classes featuring both repeated and new songs, where we play with instruments, sing fun songs, dance, and learn movements that help to stimulate the young mind. Music ranges from traditional nursery rhymes, to classical music, to pop, just to name a few genres! Parents and caregivers will also learn the best tools and techniques for continuing their child’s education at home.

Our Mission

The most critical time in a child’s development is from birth through age five. Our programs are specifically designed to expose your child to a wide variety of scales, rhythms, instruments, and styles to maximize musical potential. Our mission is to stimulate brain and muscle development through music and encourage musical aptitude while providing a fun, safe, and energetic learning environment for children and their parents. Researchers have documented that exposure to music in early childhood has a positive effect on the brain, and that the earlier you start, the better!
